uses hundreds of fragments from the nine symphonies – all in their original keys, tempos, and orchestrations – to create a kaleidoscopic remix of Mahler’s work in a 21st century context.
The world premiere on May 20 2011 will take place at the O2 Arena in Hamburg with the orchestra consisting of various youth orchestras and the NDR Symphonieorchester all conducted by Christoph Eschenbach.Previn’s Concerto for Cello and OrchestraAndré Previn

Following the world premiere in Bergen and the performances in Helsinki the co-commissioner NDR Radiophilharmonie
will present the German premiere at the Philharmonie Köln on June 22 with its principal conductor Eivind Gullberg Jensen. More performances will follow on June 23 and 24 2011 in the orchestra’s home town Hannover. Here an excerpt of Rolf Wallin’s composer note: “ .. But in Manyworlds I deal with many "parallel musics" where every music contains the seed of all the other musics. We can therefore travel from one music to another within a fraction of a second, and one musical situation can have one outcome one time, and later a totally different one.
Hmm. Sounds like the description of a symphony? Well, maybe composers and quantum physicists are more similar than we think?”

Danish Composer Poul Ruders’ Fourth symphony
– An organ Symphony – gets its European premiere at the Carl Nielsen Organ Competition in Odense, Denmark, June 4th. After a well received world premiere in Dallas, Texas, the Symphony is played once in Denmark – and later in the fall again in the UK by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
