News - New Choreography to the Music of David Lang

The music of
is increasingly gaining recognition in the dance field. With its deeply rhythmic motives and slow unfolding of patterns, it provides a perfect backdrop upon which choreographers can freely experiment with new ideas.
This past fall, in a collaboration between Works & Process at the Guggenheim, Morphoses and Vineyard Arts Project, up and coming choreographers Jessica Lang (no relation to the composer) and Pontus Lidberg each created new works, set to the same pieces of music by Lang –
and movement 2 from
The So-Called Laws of Nature
. The world premiere performances, on October 3 and 4, 2010 at the Peter B. Lewis Theater at the Guggenheim, by Morphoses were interspersed with a discussion with the artists moderated by Nancy Dalva. This program was made possible in part by funds from The Barbro Osher Pro Suecia Foundation and an anonymous donor.
