On May 2 in Pierre Boulez Saal, Trio con Brio Copenhagen celebrates a milestone collaboration with Bent Sørensen.
To mark the occasion of Trio con Brio's 25th anniversary, the ensemble has commissioned a new chamber music work, Masquerade, set to premiere in multiple venues across the world.
Inspired by their previous collaborations, Bent Sørensen's Masquerade weaves together fragments of previous compositions for Trio con Brio Copenhagen. The trio also premiered the triple concerto L’Isola della Città for which Bent Sørensen won the 2018 Grawemeyer Award.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind the work, Sørensen says,
The title, 'Masquerade,' refers to the fact that there in all of the five movements are traces of former music - mainly by myself and mainly from the two former pieces I have already composed for Trio con Brio Copenhagen; but those traces, fragments are covered with new masks of new music.
