On December 17, the Gürzenich Orchestra Köln, under the baton of François-Xavier Roth, will give the world premiere of Vier Echographien by Mark Andre. This orchestral work completes the cycle by combining all four parts of his echographies.

As is often the case with Mark Andre, Vier Echographien is a work that deals with inwardness and the exploration of space. The orchestra describes that Andre “eavesdrops on a room: its acoustic signature. It begins with a "sweep", an ascending frequency that runs through the entire audible range of the sound spectrum and elicits a response from the room, a resonance. This is absolutely unique and can be analysed using audio measurement technology.”

The composer has been working with François-Xavier Roth for a long time. At the Donaueschinger Musiktage in 2015, Roth and the SWR Symphony Orchestra commissioned and premiered the work über for orchestra and clarinet.

Vier Echographien was commissioned by Gürzenich Orchester Köln.

Two more performances follow on December 18 and 19. Please see the website of Gürzenich Orchester Köln for more information.
