Rune Glerup wins the Carl Award

Danish composer Rune Glerup wins this year's Carl Award in the category "Composer of the year - big ensemble" for his work Om lys og lethed written for violinist Isabelle Faust.

Carl Prisen is awarded by the Danish Music Publishers’ Association. The prize was founded in 2013 and named after composer Carl Nielsen. Prizes are awarded to composers and songwriters in 15 different categories spanning different music genres.

The award was justified with the following text:

This year's award winner has had a meteoric career and collaborated with many orchestras both at home and abroad. With his winning work, however, the prize winner has reached a turning point musically. It is music that excites and inspires with its very own atmosphere, where you also get a glimpse of a childhood's happy summers by the North Sea.
