On March 6, the new dance project In C by Sasha Waltz will be performed for the first time. The premiere will be broadcasted on ARTE TV and will be available via livestream.

The musical work In C, written in 1964 by Terry Riley, is an open composition that was
revolutionary in its time and is considered
to be one of the first works of minimal music. Based
on this milestone in music history, Sasha Waltz and her dancer
s will perform choreographic
material that reflects Riley's variable structure and is deliberately not designed as a
finished stage piece.

The score of In C consists of fifty-three musical phrases and reads like stage directions for musicians. The thought of translating these detailed instructions into dance through a choreographic exploration of the music appealed to me. The result is an experimental system of fifty-three movement phrases for a structured improvisation with clear rules and laws. The length of the piece remains variable, as does the number of musicians and dancers. says Sasha Waltz about In C.

In C will premiere via livestream on March 6 from Berlin Radialsystem and be available digitally for 30 days.
