Sarah Kirkland Snider’s tone poem Hiraeth, a meditation on loss, nostalgia, and memory, will commence the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra’s 2019-2020 season October 11-13. Hiraeth is one of several tone poems by living American composers to be heard this season, including Gabriela Lena Frank’s Apu, Augusta Read Thomas’ EOS (Goddess of Dawn), and Richard Danielpour’s Toward the Splendid City.
