Daniel Catán's operas return to Mexico City

To celebrate what would have been the 70th birthday of Daniel Catán, a pair of his operas will receive a spring flush of performances in his home town of Mexico City.

Salsipuedes is on stage at the Palacio de Belles Artes from May 26-June 2, staged by Luis Martin Solis, with Ricardo Jaramillo, conductor.

La Hija de Rappacini can be seen and heard during the El Aleph Festival de Arte y Ciencia at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) on May 24 and 25, directed by Cynthia Stokes and conducted by Michael Dauphinais, in a co-production with the University of Arizona's Opera Theater at the Fred Fox School of Music.
