Following G. Schirmer's 2018 acquisition of the worldwide rights to Florence Price's incredible catalog, our production team has created newly engraved performance materials to the majority of her orchestral works, including symphonies, tone poems, and concerti, with more to come. Her music is to be widely performed in the 2019-2020 season, including on subscription programs by The Cleveland Orchestra, and the Chicago, Baltimore, and New York Youth Symphony Orchestras.

"Orchestras and audiences across the globe are quickly learning why Florence Price's unique musical voice has made a triumphant resurgence on the concert stage: She, too, sings America. At once new and familiar, reflective and visionary, insistent and prayerful, profound and elegant, Price's music overflows from the wellspring of her experiences as an African American woman living and creating under Jim Crow.

"Building on longstanding efforts to resurrect Price's legacy from obscurity, G. Schirmer has taken up the mantle of setting her rightful place at the table alongside Olly Wilson, Sarah Kirkland Snider, Gabriela Lena Frank, Elliott Carter, and many other iconic American composers in its catalog. Indeed, Price is America. A voice worth hearing. A voice everyone should know."
Douglas W. Shadle, Associate Professor and Chair, Musicology, Vanderbilt University

In an effort to provide further context around Price's life and works, we will soon be able to share an extended dialog between esteemed Price musicologist Douglas W. Shadle and pianist, scholar, and educator Samantha Ege, who has recorded two of Price's solo piano compositions, and is at work on a doctoral dissertation on Price at the University of York.
