Barcelona-based choreographer Cayetano Soto returns to the US with Napoleon/Napoleon, his first world premiere for BalletX. This work explores imperialism through the lens of satire and his signature style that is "…bursting with inventive choreography and physical comic magic." (Huffington Post). Soto's choreography has appeared on Royal Ballet of Flanders, Balé da Cidade de São Paulo, and Companhia Nacional de Bailado. Soto served as Resident Choreographer for Ballet BC from September 2015 to April 2018 where his creations included a collaboration with British composer Peter Gregson.

Napoleon/Napoleon, Soto's newest work for BalletX, blends waltzes by Dmitri Shostakovich and Aram Khachaturian in his exploration of the Emperor Syndrome:
• Waltz II from Suite for Variety Orchestra No. 2
• Waltz from Masquerade Suite
