For me, music has to be an emotion……
André Previn, NewMusicBox

For more than seven decades, the composer, conductor, and pianist André Previn has made indelible and unique contributions to the realms of concert music, opera, jazz, and film scoring. Previn — still composing prolifically — will turn 90 on 6 April 2019. Celebratory commissions include a new work for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, where he was Music Director from 1985 to 1989, and his Concerto for Orchestra, to be premiered by the Kalamazoo Symphony in 2021; both premieres will also coincide with their respective orchestra’s centennial seasons.

Please enjoy a selection of recent and classic Previn scores below, for your consideration next season and beyond. Also to explore is our Previn at 90 brochure, which features appreciations by Anne-Sophie Mutter and Renée Fleming, an interview with G. Schirmer Production Editor David Fetherolf, a gallery of photos from across the decades, and a complete catalog of works.

Happy 90th, Maestro Previn, from all of us at G. Schirmer / Music Sales.
