Celebrating Britta Byström
© Lars Skaaning
Britta Byström is a busy composer these days, with commissions coming in from orchestras and ensembles from the Nordic countries and further abroad, cds being released and performances popping up in Europe and the US. In May the Sentieri Selvaggi will once again perform the septet A Walk on Green Streets in Milan, October 2017 will see the premiere of a Double Concerto for Violin and Double Bass written for Malin Broman and Rick Stotijn and commissioned by The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Philharmonie Zuidnederland in The Netherlands. In 2018 Detroit Symphony Orchestra will premiere Many, Yet One a work commissioned as part of The Lebenbom Award for Female Composers, which Byström was awarded in 2015. At the Soundstreams Festival in Toronto her first opera Gállábartnit will be premiered – and all this is just a little of what is going on with Britta Byströms music at the moment.
Check out our performances list and listen to her colourful and engaging music on our Spotify Playlist.
Britta byström will be 40 on March 14. 2017. CONGRATULATIONS!
