Eichberg has already established himself as a composer of symphonic works with his Symphony No 2, which has been described by critics as a masterpiece. The work was composed during his time as a composer-in-residence with the Danish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, the first and only house composer in the history of the orchestra. Collaborations with Hilary Hahn, Royal Opera House, London, Ensemble Modern, and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra under Kolja Blacher testify Eichberg’s recognition beyond the German-speaking and Scandinavian countries.
