56th GRAMMY Award Nominations
Music Sales composers and their works are well represented in the list of the 56th annual GRAMMY Award nominations.

The composer and conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen has been nominated in three categories - Best Orchestral Performance for this recording of Symphony No 1 by Witold Lutoslawski with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestral (buy here); Best Classical Instrumental Solo for his CD with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Leila Josefowicz for his works Nyx and Violin Concerto; and, for the same recording, Salonen is nominated for Best Contemporary Classical Composition for the Grawemeyer Award winning Violin Concerto (buy here).

Also nominated in the Best Classical Instrumental Solo section is Conjurer - Concerto for Percussionist & String Orchestra by John Corigliano, in which Evelyn Glennie is the soloist with David Alan Miller, conducting the Albany Symphony (buy here).Annelies by James Whitbourn has been nominated in the Best Choral Performance category (buy here). Times go by Turns (buy here), the latest album from New York Polyphony, including the four part Colloquy with God by Richard Rodney Bennett, is included in the Best Chamer Music/Small Ensemble Performance category. The collection of Concertos by Vagn Holmboe on the Dacapo label has been nominated in the Best Classical Compendium section (buy here).
