Peter Maxwell Davies attended the annual star-studded
Ivor Novello Awards on 20 May where he was honoured
with the Classical Music Award. The Ivors are internationally respected for honouring excellence in British music writing. They are judged and presented by the writing community
and for over 50 years have been given annually to outstanding songwriters and composers.

Max’s recent works published by Chester Music include Violin Concerto No 2, Fiddler on the Shore, written for
Daniel Hope, The Last Island for String Sextet, written for the Nash Ensemble, and most recently Blake Dreaming: “Goodison Quartet No 5” for the Doric Quartet and Roderick Williams. He is currently writing an opera to a commission by the Royal Academy of Music, London and The Julliard School, New York.
