Eric Whitacre will be in residence in Europe this Autumn for several projects: the world premiere of his first large-scale piece for chorus and orchestra in London; a Visiting Fellowship at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge and conducting and judging engagements in Europe.

BARBICAN CONCERT: SONGS FROM AMERICA
October 24 2010, Barbican, London

On October 24 Whitacre will conduct the London Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in an all-American programme at the Barbican , London. The concert will include a new large-scale commission Songs of Immortality as well as some of Whitacre’s a cappella choral pieces and string orchestra works alongside music by Morten Lauridsen, Samuel Barber and Aaron Copland.

SIDNEY SUSSEX COLLEGE, CAMBRIDGE
October – December 2010, University of Cambridge. Visiting Fellowship

Eric Whitacre has been elected to a Visiting Fellowship at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge , where he will be based during Michaelmas Term 2010 also as Composer in Residence. During his tenure at Cambridge he will be working with Sidney Sussex Choir and other Cambridge collegiate choirs, and will offer lectures and masterclasses to the University. He will also compose a new choral work for Sidney Sussex Choir which will be premiered later in the academic year. He will be joined by his wife Hila Plitmann, the Grammy Award-winning soprano, and their son.

BBC CHOIR OF THE YEAR
November 28, Royal Festival Hall, London. Judge

Eric Whitacre will be on the panel of judges for the Grand Final of Choir of the Year in association with BBC Radio 3 on November 28 to be held at the Royal Festival Hall, London.

RUNDFUNKCHOR BERLIN
December 22, Berlin Cathedral

On December 22 in Berlin, Whitacre will conduct the Rundfunkchor Berlin in a concert of Christmas repertoire including works by Whitacre himself. This Christmas concert will be held at Berlin Cathedral.
