Programme Note
Life Story
The title should not be taken too literally: the piece does not open with the pangs of birth nor end with the pangs of death. It is more a reflection about life- my life, I suppose. It is dominated by the seriousness of the central slow movement, but there is room for fantasy, too, in the first movement, for light-heartedness in the scherzo and forthright decision in the finale.
LIFE STORY was commissioned by the Peterborough String Orchestra with funds provided by Eastern Arts.
