Programme Note
Through the years I have worked on a project to compose a series of works for various solo instruments. So far GRANITE for solo cello, QUARTZ for solo violin and DIAMOND for solo clarinet have been composed.
What interests me particularly in these pieces is the structure that various minerals have: In QUARTZ, for instance, I have tried to display the glass-like and the characteristic crystalline. In DIAMOND there is focused on the extremely brilliant, the sudden turns between the weak and colourless grey tones and the richly coloured, sparkling flashes.
