Inspired by a letter from Mozart in which he complains of being uncomfortably jostled during a carriage ride, Kernis’s short string interlude takes young listeners on a musical trip from Salzburg to Nashville and back! Seamless thematic variation is the headline as familiar sounding pop styles meld with classical tradition in several musical quotations from Mozart’s Divertimento for Strings, K.563.
