Programme Note
This short, exuberant concert-opener is dedicated to the founders, subscribers and musicians of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra. The piece was commissioned to mark the orchestra’s 10th anniversary season and was premiered in Hagerstown, Maryland, on 14 March 1992 in a performance conducted by Barry Tuckwell.
