The English composer Thomas Tallis (ca 1505-1585) ranks as one of the most important composers of choral music in the Renaissance. Bo Holten has written his work as a set of variations on Tallis' Lamentation no 2 of his Lamentations of Jeremiah, one of Tallis' best known works.
