Programme Note

The title of this piece for solo harp, the man in the wind and the west moon, comes from a line in the Dylan Thomas poem, 'And death shall have no dominion'. The piece is in four sections; the second, third and fourth sections being essentially repeats of the first section, but as the harmonies shift through that section the following section begins with the new harmony. Each section has its own dynamic, but much is left open to interpretation by the player. The piece is dedicated to Helen Tunstall, who has played many of my harp parts over the years. It lasts approximately 7 minutes.
