        Programme Note

        Many of the motives and harmonies in this piece are based upon the letters of Mary and David Bowerman's names, and of Champs Hill (translated into musical notes). In addition, three of David's favourite musical themes feature: Praise to the Holiest in Height from Elgar's Dream of Gerontius, the 'cello theme from Brahm's 4th Symphony (2nd movement) and the opening ('cello melody) of Mendelssohn's Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 49.
