Programme Note

Premiered by Showstoppers: Choir of a Thousand conduced by Mark De Lisser at the Grand Ring at the Royal Norfolk Showground during the Closing Ceremony of the Royal Norfolk Show, 29th June 2017.

Words by Molly Naylor.

Think about the earth and what’s beneath your feet, think about the people, think about what’s underneath.
Yes soil! Yes dirt, Yes light, Yes work! With hope, we know, things change, things grow.

Follow the patterns of the seasons as they come, fall for the rain go barmy for the sun.
Yes soil! Yes dirt, Yes light, Yes work! With hope, we know, things change, things grow.

This earth we’re on is strange and old, it’s hard to understand it all, this Earth we’re on is strange and old, it’s hard to understand it all, but we can listen, and hear, and learn, and walk around, and pant things, and reach out, and share, and plant things, and reach out and share, and lend a hand. This earth’s a really massive place, but tiny when you’re out in space.
Yes soil! Yes dirt, Yes light, Yes work! With hope, we know, things change, things grow.

Walk under the sky and swim in everything, laugh at thunderstorms, shout and roar and sing, Shout! Rrrroar! And sing!
Yes soil! Yes dirt, Yes light, Yes work! With hope, we know, things change, things grow.

Be grateful for the green fields covered in hay bales, treasure all the beauty and the dirt under your nails.
Yes soil! Yes dirt, Yes light, Yes work! With hope, we know, things change, things grow.aylor
