Programme Note
Composer note
The concerto was written for the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Guarneri String Quartet. I specifically titled it as a concerto for two violins, viola and cello because of the soloistic nature of the writing for each instrument. There are passages which employ string quartet ensemble textures, but solo or duet sections are more prominent. The work is in one movement which encompasses many sub sections, functioning as a multi movement piece.
