        Programme Note

        Tambourin is a very short, two-part response to Bach’s 4th orchestral suite. The final movement from the Bach, ends with a stately, quick cadence; I start my response with the energy of the trumpets’ semiquavers, which then slowly dissolves into a dream-like iteration of the first few bars of the Réjouissance. Trumpet semiquavers drift in and out of focus, and the continuo instruments vanish into nothing.
