Composer Note:
wed was commissioned by the American Conservatory Theater for the Kronos Quartet. wed is from a series of incidental pieces and songs I wrote for the American Conservatory Theater's 1996 production of Shakespeare's play The Tempest, with music performed live by the Kronos. wed is a bittersweet interpretation of the wedding masque Prospero creates to entertain his daughter Miranda and her beloved Ferdinand.

wed should be subdued and still, devoid of almost all expression.
