Programme Note
Originally composed for slide projections and symphony orchestra, Knight conceived this work in conjunction with photographer Donald Sultner-Welles. The multimedia presentation with images of earth, water, and space was stunning at its premiere — it is now however performed solely as a musical work. Three Musical Elements received its first performance by Sergiu Comissiona and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra under the title Concertino for Camera and Orchestra.
