- Eric Knight
A Symphony in Four American Idioms (1976)
- G Schirmer Inc (World)
Programme Note
Composer Note:
I wrote this piece originally as a pops symphony on request from Segiu Comissiona and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. The first movement is in Rondo form, and is what I call a symphonic rock movement; the second movement is a theme and variations using a Mississippi mud blues as musical material; the third movement, a jazz waltz, is a Minuet and Trio; and the fourth movement is in sonata-allegro form with an hispanic flavor.
