Anthony Davis Esu Variations (1995)
Esu Variations is an 11-minute piece named after the trickster god of Yoruban mythology. The piece is more about the metamorphosis of Esu, rather than variations on a theme. It deals with the juxtaposition of contrasting musical ideas, creating disparate moods.
