Param Vir: The Comfort of Angels (1996)
In memory of Jason Schenker
The work is in three short movements which are played without a break – a fast middle movement, being ensconced within two slower ones. The last movement is a chorale in D-flat major, which incorporates a fragment of the Peacock Song from my opera Broken Strings. The peacock sings of the indestructibility of love and the eternity of all life. The work is affectionately dedicated to my pupil Jason Schenker who passed through to another dimension in January of 1996.
