Programme Note

This volume incorporates Lord Berners’ complete solo piano music in new and authoritative editions by Peter Dickinson. The book includes pieces from the time of the First World War – as audacious as anything by a British composer up to that time – and the music of his later years, composed for film, theatre and ballet. Full notes on the music and a foreword by Sir John Betjeman are included, and a number of the pieces appear in print for the first time.
