Programme Note
CONTORNI was composed in 1978.
The title means 'outlines' or 'contours' in Italian and the word is here used about musical figures.
The contours can be drawn in two ways. A short, strong tone is given reverberation by the weak, long tone of another instrument. Melodic figures is given a few accents, so the figures get an outline.
Also, in other respects CONTORNI is thorough sonic and aleatoric and the work suggests the second movement of my piano concerto.
