Tattoo For Three (1984)
- Edition Wilhelm Hansen Copenhagen (World)
Programme Note
The piece was commisssioned by Den fynske Trio and first performed in Buffalo, 1985.
It is a little "follow-up" to Tattoo for One, written for clarinet solo, and it deals with references to connotations such as, for instance, an outdoor military show (a nightfall!), an insistent hammering, or (indeed) a skin tattoo. Something that pricks and stings! The clarinet opens with a trumpetlike fanfare, and the trio gradually works itself into a wild hammering rythmical "tor de force".
