Programme Note
24 Hour Sax Quartet was commissioned by Saxofourte and Yamaha Music Central GmbH and was composed in January 2004.
It continues my very fruitful relationship with the group which began four years ago with the idea of writing a Concerto for Saxophone Quartet and Orchestra. We realised this project in 2001 with great success.
The new quartet is based on material taken from my soundtrack for the film "24 heures de la vie d'une femme", based on the novel by Stefan Zweig, directed by Laurent Bouhnik in 2002.
