Unavailable Explain this...

Eos commissioned Nyman to write a score for the 10-minute silent film "Manhatta", a Jazz Age piece lacing together images of inter-way Manhattan with the (projected) words of Walt Whitman. The visuals, dating back some 80 years and created by filmmaker Charles Sheeler and photographer Paul Strand, are fascinating in their depiction of a New York long faded and in their portentousness to the city's future industrialization. Nyman's score, redolent of (but not aping) the time period, created a frenetic backdrop, somewhat against the rather staid mood of the film. Sheffer presided with an unyielding hand and the sparkle and zip Nyman doubtless intended came off with furious clarity.
