Programme Note
This arrangement for recorder quartet was commissioned by the 2014 Vale of Glamorgan Festival for i Flautisti. It is based on my original composition of the same title commissioned in 2007 by the Orlando Consort, which in turn is based on a virelai (a form of medieval French verse in poetry and music), also of the same name, by Guillaume de Machaut (1300-1377).
