Programme Note
“Solen er rund” (The sun is round) was written with inspiration from several visits since 1975 to Bali; the choral song was originally part of the work “Slå dørene op!” (Open the doors!), to texts by the Danish poet Inger Christensen, for recitator, choir, junior symphony orchestra and percussion ensemble. The song is built upon the Balinese “pelog”-scale in a multi layered version, accompanied by the polyphonic voices of my so-called infinity rhythms.
