Programme Note
"Den fjerde dag" (The 4th Day of the Creation) is a tone painting, the first in my production, the idea and design following Anders Sunesøn´s version of the biblical Genesis, his “Hexaëmeron” (around 1225). Unlike for instance Moses Anders Sunesøn thought of himself as “a scientist” and his version also includes the darker sides of nature and both the conscious and the subconscious sides of man. The text for my ´tone painting´ includes passages by Moses, Sunesøn and texts from 1984. The work was written in memoriam Thomas Ring (1892 -1983).
”Den Fjerde Dag” was part of a complete ”Skabelsen” (”Genesis”) in 7 movements, based on the ”Hexaëmeron” (around 1225) by Anders Sunesøn, with contributions by the Danish composers Mogens Winkel Holm, Ib Nørholm, Bo Holten, Bent Lorentzen, Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen, Herman D. Koppel and my self.
