Programme Note
In this short piece (7 minutes) the theme is followed by six variations of which the last one is slow and characteristically dies away with the quiet sound of gentle chords.
Theme and Variations was written in 1970 for the Italian guitarist Angelo Gilardino who first played it the following year in Italy.
