Zbigniew Preisner is one of the outstanding film composers of his generation. He has scored over thirty feature films since the early 1990s and has achieved international renown for his collaboration with the late director Krzysztof Kieslowski (The Double Life of Veronique, the Three Colours trilogy). It was to Kieslowski's memory that Preisner dedicated his first large scale work for chorus and orchestra, Requiem for my Friend. This work premiered in Warsaw in 1998 and has received numerous major performances worldwide. To date, the CD of the Requiem has sold over 180,000 copies.
