Summary

Knud Jeppesen (1892-1974) was a Danish musicologist and composer. He is internationally renowned for his research into music from the 16th and 17th century resulting in a doctoral thesis on the contrapuntal style of Palestrina followed by an influential textbook on the topic. 

Jeppesen was a student of prominent Danish composers Carl Nielsen and Thomas Laub, and he studied musicology at the University of Copenhagen with Angul Hammerich. He graduated as organist at the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music in 1916.

As a composer he is particularly known for choral and organ music, and his choral piece Te Deum Danicum was performed at the opening of the Danish National Radio’s Concert Hall in 1945.
