Biography

French pianist, music teacher and composer Odette Gartenlaub was born on March 13th 1922. She studied at the Paris Conservatory with Olivier Messiaen, Henri Busser, Noël Gallon and Darius Milhaud. In 1948 she won the Premiere Grand Prix de Rome and has also become well known as a soloist, performing with a range of orchestras internationally. She was appointed as a professor at the Paris Conservatory in 1959. Gartenlaub has composed many works, ranging works for orchestra, chamber ensemble and solo instruments.
