July 26 sees the world premiere of Catch and Release by Esa-Pekka Salonen at the Crusell Music Festival, Finland. With an identical scoring to The Soldier’s Tale by Igor Stravinsky (with the cornet replaced by a trumpet), the premiere is to be performed in a concert with the suite from Stravinsky’s masterpiece. Several other works by Salonen feature at the festival.

Salonen will also be Composer-in-Residence at this year’s Moritzburg Festival in Dresden from August 5-20 (pictured). The festival programme is dedicated to chamber music and will include the works Lachen verlernt, Yta III, Prologue and Goodbye.

Cellist and Festival Director Jan Vogler has invited outstanding artists like Hélène Grimaud, Renaud et Gautier Capuçon, Baiba Skride and Colin Currie to join in the unique atmosphere at Moritzburg castle and the Transparent Factory of VW in Dresden.
