Athelas to premiere Per Nørgård’s The Will-o’-the Wisps in Town on 16th June 2006

Per Nørgård has adapted his large work for chorus and orchestra The Will-o’-the-Wisps Go to Town into a chamber version for mezzo-soprano and five musicians, which Helene Gjerris and Athelas Sinfonietta are to premiere on 16th June 2006 in Møstings Hus.
In this version of the work Helene Gjerris sings all the roles, as the Marsh Witch, the Narrator and Hans Christian Andersen, as well as the roles of the chorus and the children’s choir, which Per Nørgård has recomposed as arias. But the five musicians are also allowed to join in with speaking and shouting choruses and will-o’-the-wisp falsetto choruses.
