A celebratory concert at London’s Purcell Room on February 8 marks the 70th birthday of Anthony Payne. Jane Manning and Jane’s Minstrels perform a number of Payne’s own works alongside music that has influenced him, plus his own arrangements of works by Elgar and Warlock.

Anthony Payne is well known as one of the UK’s most distinguished composers, whose works have been inspired in varied ways by early twentieth century British and Viennese music. He also found enormous success with his reworking of the sketches to Elgar’s Third Symphony, which has been frequently performed all around the world.
