First Prize for Cinderella
A school production of Maxwell Davies’s children’s opera Cinderella has won a major award in Germany. The Toto Lotto Music Theatre Prize 2005 (children’s prize) was awarded to the Alexander von Humboldt High School in Konstanz for its highly original performance, for which a circus tent was constructed in front of the school.

The winners will be presented with their award on 13 May at Theaterhaus Stuttgart, when they will perform extracts from the production.

Cinderella has proved one of Maxwell Davies’ most enduringly popular works, particularly in Germany, where there have been numerous productions in recent years.
