Sir Simon Rattle conducts the World Premiere of Simon Holt work

Boots of Lead for alto and ensemble will receive its world premiere on 27 October in Birmingham followed by a London performance on 3 November. It will be performed by Rinat Shaham, alto and the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group who commissioned the work under its Sound Investment Scheme. Boots of Lead is the final part of Simon Holt’s cycle ‘a ribbon of time’ encompassing five works based on poems by Emily Dickinson: Sunrise’ yellow noise; Two Movements for string quartet; Boots of Lead; Clandestiny; startled Grass.
