Blond Eckbert - Recording Re-release
A recording of Judith Weir's second opera Blond Eckbert has been re-released on the NMC label, making this the eighth NMC disc to feature her music.

The Times hailed Blond Eckbert as 'highly accomplished, beautiful and absorbing'. It is a musical version of an extraordinary and disturbing short story written in 1796 by Ludwig Tieck. The storytelling style of the opera was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's film Spellbound.

The opera is available in versions for full orchestra and chamber ensemble of ten players, the latter to be premiered in June 2006 at the Royal Opera House Linbury Theatre.
