Peter Gregson's 'Bach Recomposed' in Concert at London's Royal Albert Hall

Gregson’s album is the latest release in Deutsche Grammophon’s pioneering Recomposed series, which invites contemporary composers to reinterpret works in the classical canon. For his record, Gregson ‘recomposed’ perhaps the best-loved of all works for his instrument, the Bach Cello Suites.

The performance is one of the headline events of the Royal Albert Hall’s 2019 Love Classical season, which celebrates some of the most distinctive and original voices in classical music today. Entitled Bach Evolutions, the evening programme explores the music of J.S. Bach reinvented for today and is the finale of Deutsche Grammophon’s 120th anniversary celebrations.

Alongside Gregson, Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson will play excerpts from his highly-praised album Johann Sebastian Bach. Electronic artist Clark will also be debuting a specially-arranged Bach-inspired composition.
